Helen Evans is a contemporary Australian artist based in Brighton, Brisbane. Her work explores botanicals, still life, and the natural world through vibrant colour, layered surfaces, and expressive mark-making. Working primarily with acrylic on board, she begins with observational drawing from life and develops these studies into paintings that move between representation and abstraction.

Helen describes her approach as disrupted realism, where familiar forms shift and evolve through colour, pattern, and gesture. Colour plays a central role in her practice, and her early training in textiles continues to influence her interest in surface, rhythm, and pattern within a painting.
